South East Museum Development Strategy

MLA South East's work in support of museums is framed by ‘Making the Connection: A strategy for museum development in the South East 2004-2007’.

'Making the Connection' positions the region’s museums in the wider context of national and regional, political, social and economic developments and agendas. Our work is intended to promote greater understanding of the challenges facing museums, and to help release the potential they have to enhance social, cultural and economic life in the region.

MLA South East’s Museum Development Strategy is the result of research and regional consultation and builds on MLA South East’s existing strategies and business planning processes.

The strategy is targeted at everyone with an interest in museums in the South East and steers the work of MLA South East and other strategic agencies and organisations with a vested interest in supporting museum development in the region.

The strategy and a briefing note are available to download from the right hand side of the page.
